Treatment guidance & placement
Finding the right level of care shouldn’t be another crisis.
Transcend helps families understand addiction treatment options — detox, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care — and guides them toward an appropriate, reputable program for their loved one, often arranged before an intervention takes place.
When a family finally reaches the moment of “yes,” the last thing they need is a frantic search through ads, call centers and websites that all sound the same. Choosing treatment is one of the most important decisions in the process — and one of the most confusing.
Treatment guidance is about helping your family make that decision calmly, with clear information, and ideally before it has to be made in a hurry.
Families come to us for treatment guidance when…
- They don’t know what level of care is appropriate
- They’ve been overwhelmed by treatment ads and call centers
- A previous program didn’t work out
- Detox or medical needs are a concern
- Co-occurring mental health concerns are involved
- They need to plan logistics quickly after a “yes”

Understanding levels of care
Addiction treatment is not one thing. Programs differ by intensity, setting and clinical focus. In broad terms, families will encounter:
- Medically supervised withdrawal (detox) — short-term, medically managed care to safely stop using substances like alcohol, opioids or benzodiazepines
- Residential or inpatient treatment — living on-site in a structured therapeutic program
- Partial hospitalization (PHP) — intensive daytime treatment while living at home or in supportive housing
- Intensive outpatient (IOP) — several sessions a week around work or family life
- Outpatient care and continuing support — ongoing therapy, medication for addiction treatment where appropriate, recovery coaching and mutual-support groups
New York’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports offers a useful public overview of treatment types, and the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) provides free, confidential referrals 24/7.
How we help
- Clarify your loved one’s needs, history and risks
- Explain options in plain language, including what questions to ask programs
- Identify reputable programs that fit clinical needs, location and practical considerations
- Help coordinate admission logistics and timing around an intervention
- Stay involved as your loved one transitions between levels of care
Transcend does not diagnose or provide clinical treatment; appropriate level-of-care decisions are made with licensed treatment professionals. Our role is to help your family navigate those decisions with clarity.

Common questions
Questions families ask
Do you help families choose a treatment program?
Yes. We help families understand treatment options, questions to ask, and practical next steps, and we guide them toward appropriate programs.
How are treatment options chosen?
Options are considered based on your loved one’s clinical needs, history, safety, location and practical factors such as insurance and timing. Final level-of-care decisions are made with licensed treatment professionals. You are always free to ask us any question about how we work with providers.
What if my loved one has a mental health condition too?
Co-occurring conditions are common. We help families look for programs with appropriate clinical capability and encourage assessment by qualified clinicians.
Can you help if they’re already in treatment?
Yes. We can support the family during treatment and help plan the next level of care and the return home.

Your next step
You don’t have to know how to fix everything.
