New Jersey is home for Transcend. Joe Ortiz founded the firm here, and New Jersey families are at the heart of our work — from Bergen and Essex to Middlesex and Monmouth, and down the Shore to Cape May.

Most New Jersey families who call us have tried reasoning, pleading and waiting. The person they love may still be working or living independently, insisting everything is under control, while the damage to health, safety, finances and relationships keeps growing. You do not have to keep waiting for your loved one to ask for help.

New Jersey families often call when…

  • A loved one denies or minimizes their substance use
  • Conversations about treatment end in anger or avoidance
  • There’s been an overdose, arrest, crash or hospitalization
  • Previous treatment was followed by rapid relapse
  • The family is divided about what to do next
  • They fear the next crisis will be worse

How a New Jersey intervention comes together

Every plan starts with a short, confidential discovery call. From there, we learn your family’s history, decide who should participate, prepare each person’s message and boundaries, and line up treatment in advance. For New Jersey families, that planning often includes practical, local questions: which programs have appropriate availability, whether a loved one should stay in-state or travel for care, how insurance and admissions will work, and where the conversation should take place.

Treatment options for New Jersey families

New Jersey families may consider in-state detox, residential, partial-care and outpatient programs, or out-of-state care when distance from familiar triggers helps. We help you weigh those options clearly. For free, 24/7 state referral information, the State of New Jersey’s ReachNJ line is 1-844-732-2465.

The process

What working with Transcend looks like

Every plan is shaped around your family. This is the general path — and it always begins with a short, confidential conversation.

  1. 1

    A brief discovery call

A confidential 10–15 minute conversation to understand where your family is.

  2. 2

    Family consultation

A deeper look at history, safety concerns and who is ready to be involved.

  3. 3

    A personalized plan

The right approach for your family, with everyone prepared for their role.

  4. 4

    The invitation to change

A compassionate, carefully prepared conversation — with a plan for yes, and for not yet.

  5. 5

    Treatment and ongoing support

Help moving into care, and steady guidance for the family afterward.

We were facing a difficult family situation and didn’t know where to turn until a psychologist recommended Joe. Over the past six months, Joe has provided compassionate guidance, helped us establish healthy boundaries, and supported every member of our family through an incredibly challenging time. Thanks to his professionalism, flexibility, and ongoing support, our loved one has made significant progress, and our family finally feels hopeful and at peace again.
